We are pleased to announce that Dana will be appearing in St Peter's Church on Sunday 11th September 2011. A number of her songs will be performed with a choir of local schoolchildren. There are only a limited number of tickets available so please visit our 'Box Office'.

Dana won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970, beating such well known, international singing stars as Julio Iglesias. Read more...

This Event has been made possible by the generous sponsorship of the family owned business, Roundswell BP/SPAR Services

We are privileged to have as our Patron The Countess of Arran.

Most of our Events are staged in St Peter's Church, West Buckland and our Village Hall and we are most grateful to all who help and allow us to stage this Festival.

Thursday evening:

The Festival will commence at 7p.m on Thursday when The Gallery Exhibition will be open for viewing in St Peter's Church. There will be a Special Preview, between 7 and 9pm; and this year we shall have another innovation - a series of Mini Master Classes, when visitors will have the opportunity to listen to and discuss with some of the Artists and Crafts people (with easels or craft tools and equipment). They will be in attendance to talk about their work to small groups of people in different parts of St Peter's Church. We shall publish details of who will do short talks/ demonstrations of their work at a later date. First class refreshments will be available as well as wine and soft drinks. Many Works of art will be for sale.

Friday evening:

This year we shall have a special Classical Concert featuring well known music composed in the 19 th and early 20 th century - Paganini, Bizet, Ravel, Grieg and maybe a touch of Elgar. We shall, as always feature some young musicians near the top of their skills. Many will come from North Devon but will be at Music Schools around the UK.

Saturday evening:

In 2009 we had Music Hall, in 2010 it was Cabaret and this year the Show will be pure Variety. We have already booked three favourites from past years - Louise Lloyd - the beautiful Soprano, who two years ago led a packed audience in Land of Hope and Glory, is back and will be as great a pleasure as ever.

Sunday evening:

On Sunday 11 th September the West Buckland Festival will have the first really well known international STAR that we have booked. We are pleased to announce that Dana will be appearing in St Peter's Church on Sunday 11th September 2011. A number of her songs will be performed with a choir of local schoolchildren.

The objectives of the West Buckland Festival are to:

Provide music, art and entertainment for the purpose of enriching the lives of people in North Devon and raise monies for the upkeep of St Peter's Church, West Buckland and to provide additional funding for another Charity or Charities chosen by the Festival Committee each year.

In 2011, the Festival Committee will make an allocation of surplus funds to the North Devon District Hospital Chemotherapy Unit Appeal, to the PCC of St Peter's Church and to East Buckland and West Buckland Village Hall.

Some 5,000 cancer patients attend North Devon District Hospital each year for chemotherapy. The care and attention are good, but the surroundings aren't. This vital Appeal is to raise £2m+ to create a purpose designed Unit that is comfortable and welcoming. We hope that you will give as generously as possible and support the Festival so that we can give as much as possible to this Appeal.

In 2007 that Charity was the East Buckland and West Buckland Village Hall. In 2008 the Charity was the Children's Hospice - Little Bridge House, Fremington. In 2009 the Charity we supported was 'Help for Heroes'; a Charity formed to help those servicemen and women wounded in conflicts.

Last year (2010) we supported Shelter Box who respond instantly to natural and manmade disasters by delivering boxes of aid to those who are most in need. Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless.

Our 2010 Festival was a great success. We had three nights of Entertainment, each of which was very well received. We were the recipitents of a number of complimentary letters and many special comments from people, who had attended one or more of our evening Events in St Peter's Church. Our Workshops again were very well attended and most successful, with requests for repeats in 2011.

The Festival Walk was the best yet, with almost too many subscribers. Thank you to all at Tor Down Farm, for the wonderful tea they laid on for the walkers. The Gallery Exhibition of Arts and Crafts was brilliant, exhibiting a wider and greater selection of the works, of artists in North Devon, than ever before. Similarly, the Flower and Harvest displays were especially good, with even more people making a special contribution. As always the quality of the Refreshments served at Events and the produce for sale at the Coffee Morning, was of the very best.

We would love be able to mention all the people from West Buckland and other villages, who worked so very hard to make the West Buckland Festival the success that it was, but the list would simply be too long; so to you all, a very special THANK YOU. We now need now to look to the future - 2011.
